Questions
What are the Texas LPC CEU requirements?
Under Texas BHEC (Behavioral Health Executive Council) rules, Texas continuing education is 24 hours for LPCs, 30 hours for LMFTs, and 30 hours for LCSWs or LMSWs each renewal, including 6 hours of ethics and 3 hours for a distinct population. The Texas bundle is $69 for 36 CE hours, and the required courses are listed above.
How much supervision CE do Texas supervisors need?
Supervisors (LPC-S, LMFT-S, LCSW-S) also need 6 hours of supervision CE each renewal. Texas Supervisor CE (6 hours) is in the bundle.
Is this online CE self-paced?
Yes. It's self-study online: study guides with PDFs you keep, then a post-test, and your certificate by email when you pass the post-test and evaluation. Test access lasts 1 year from your purchase date. All Texas courses are listed on CE Broker, and we report your completions to CE Broker within 30 days.
Are these courses accepted for Texas LPC, LMFT, and LCSW license renewal?
Yes. Accepted for Texas BHEC license renewal. Under the Texas BHEC CE requirements, at least half your hours come from providers on the list in 22 TAC §681.140(e) for LPCs, §801.261(e) for LMFTs, and §781.501(e) for LCSWs and LMSWs, which includes “any provider approved or endorsed by a provider listed herein.” CAMFT approves me as a CE provider (#10072759). The Texas BHEC doesn’t pre-approve providers: “The Council does not pre-evaluate or pre-approve continuing education providers or hours” (22 TAC §681.140(h)).
Do you report Texas CE hours to CE Broker?
Yes. All Texas courses are listed on CE Broker (provider ID 70094), and we report your completions to CE Broker within 30 days, using the Texas license type and number you give on the test.
How much does Texas LPC CE cost online?
$69 for 36 CE hours in one bundle, enough for the 24 hours a Texas LPC needs or the 30 hours a Texas LMFT, LCSW, or LMSW needs each renewal, or $9 or $19 per course. Prices we checked on Oct 25, 2026 for the annual or unlimited plans at four other online CE sites: Psychotherapy.net Essential $149, Aspira CE Unlimited $129.99, CE4Less Unlimited $89.99, and NetCE All Access $89. The bundle costs $80, $60.99, $20.99, and $20 less than those plans.
What topics are required for Texas LPC, LMFT, and LCSW renewal?
Texas LPCs need 24 hours each renewal, including 6 hours in ethics and 3 hours “designed to ensure competency when providing services to a distinct population,” and must “successfully complete the Texas jurisprudence examination each renewal period” (22 TAC §681.140(a)(1), (b)(2)). Texas LMFTs need 30 hours, including 6 hours in ethics and 3 hours for a distinct population, plus 2 hours in technology-assisted services if they provide telehealth; LMFT supervisors must also pass the jurisprudence exam (22 TAC §801.261(a)(1), (b)(2), (b)(3)). Texas LCSWs and LMSWs need 30 hours, including 6 hours in ethics and 3 hours for a distinct population (22 TAC §781.501(a)(1)). To renew, every Texas BHEC licensee must also “affirm or demonstrate successful completion of a training course on human trafficking prevention” (22 TAC §883.1(d)(2)).
When is my Texas LPC license renewal due?
Texas BHEC licenses are “renewable on a biennial basis and must be renewed online.” Renewals are due on the last day of your birth month, and you can renew up to 60 days early (22 TAC §883.1(a) and (b)).
Can I carry extra Texas LPC CE hours into my next renewal?
Yes, up to 10. “A licensee may carry forward to the next renewal period, a maximum of 10 hours accrued during the current renewal period if those hours are not needed for renewal” (22 TAC §681.140(a)(2)).
What happens in a Texas BHEC CE audit?
Each month, 5% of licensees are picked by an automated process for a CE audit, and you send your CE documentation in the manner the Council asks (22 TAC §882.50(c)(1)). Keep proof of your CE for at least 3 years after the renewal period (22 TAC §681.140(i), §801.261(i), §781.501(i)). Your certificate comes by email within 1 business day after you pass the post-test and complete the evaluation.

Texas rules
My courses count toward your Texas LPC renewal (24 hours), LMFT renewal (30 hours), and LCSW or LMSW renewal (30 hours).
Texas asks that at least half your hours come from providers on a list in its rules. That list includes “an international, national, regional, state, or local association of medical, mental, or behavioral health professionals” and “any provider approved or endorsed by a provider listed herein” (22 TAC §681.140(e)(1) and (e)(8) for LPCs, §801.261(e)(1) and (e)(8) for LMFTs, §781.501(e)(1) and (e)(8) for LCSWs and LMSWs). CAMFT is a state association of marriage and family therapists, and it approves me as a CE provider (#10072759). The Texas BHEC doesn’t pre-approve providers, so check with the Texas BHEC if you’re unsure. Texas also says time spent on “an organized continuing education activity, program, or offering from a third-party” isn’t held to its 1-hour self-study limit.
Every board makes its own final call, and rules can change, so it's always good to check with yours. Courses are offered by California Counselor CEUs (John Oliver Ycaro, LPCC #9132), CAMFT-approved CE provider #10072759.
