About this course

This course reviews what cultural competency and health equity mean in clinical practice, what the professional ethics codes require, and how to use current research with the clients you see. It covers the multicultural counseling competencies, self-awareness, the DSM-5-TR Cultural Formulation Interview, language access, racial trauma, the minority stress model, culturally adapted treatment, and the multicultural orientation framework, with a box of practical strategies to reduce bias in assessment and diagnosis.

Written for the 3 hours designed to ensure competency when providing services to a distinct population under 22 TAC 681.140(a)(1), 801.261(a)(1), and 781.501(a)(1). State law examples appear in clearly labeled sections.
